More than 100 join Torrevieja’s Reindeer walk

CANCER charity AECC and San Jose Orphanage were the beneficiaries of Sunday’s Reindeer walk in Torrevieja.

Leaving from Fit 4 All Gym at 11.30am, Santa and his sleigh, pulled by a swift of Tigers, in the shape of Torrevieja Tigers Rugby Team and led by Jason from Fit 4 All Gym, who was dressed appropriately as Rudolf, were followed by walkers in appropriate seasonal attire, on a three kilometre walk, returning to the gym at the Punta Prima Roundabout about an hour later.

Due to the cancellation of this year’s Santa Run, Maria and The Pink Ladies teamed up with Fit 4 All Gym and Torrevieja Tigers to organise this new fundraising event, called the ‘Three Kilometre Reindeer Walk’.

Along with the 20 or more Tigers, another hundred or more walkers joined in the fun run, all in aid of two very good causes. Along the route they collected presents for the San Jose Orphanage and donations to share between both NGO’s.

The Tigers showed why they are becoming one of the most feared Rugby teams in the league by proving their power in pulling Santa and his sleigh, complete with presents back up the hill from the Mediterranean to the Punta Prima Roundabout at the N332, accompanied by the walkers, complete with Christmas Music, dogs, babies in push chairs and kids of all ages.

All participants enjoyed a welcome refreshment at the end of walk and plans are already underway a the second Reindeer walk in 2012.
