COUNCILLORS in Inca are now allowed to receive non-personal gifts worth more than €30.
If the gift is more expensive than that, they must hand it in to the Town Hall so that it be added to items to be donated to the poor.
They must still report on any gifts received, even if worth less than €30.
Councillors cannot give each other gifts either, only the Mayor can do so with special permission and the gift must be worth less than €300. “This is so as to ensure equality within politics,” said spokesperson Angel Garcia.
