Santanyi man faces jail for killing dog

A MAN faces a 10-month prison sentence for allegedly killing his dog.
The Podenco Ibicenco – Ibizan Hound – called Trui had been his faithful companion for more than 10-years, joining him on hunts.
In December 2010, when Trui was no longer strong enough to go hunting, the 69-year-old man from Santanyi stopped feeding the dog, hit it in the head with a stick and threw the still alive dog in rubbish back and left it a dumpster, according to the prosecutor.
He has been charged with animal abuse and the trial will be held in Palma in the coming weeks.
