Semana Santa Book to be also published in English

LOS COSTALEROS are a unique combination of Internationals who carry and support the Semana Santa Easter processions every year in Torrevieja.

This year, their influence on the processions is being reflected in the annual Semana Santa book, a tomb of more than 200-full colour, glossy pages, which contain photos, history and information about each and everyone of the cofradias.

For the first time, the 2012 edition will also feature up to 10% of the magazine in English, such as been the popularity of the guide over the last number of years.

Last month the official commission of Torrevieja’s “Tomas Valcarcel,” Semana Santa Management Committee started work on the new edition which will feature some important new features in presentation and content, maintaining some of the most memorable sections from previous years, especially the amount of first rate photography.

The main novelty, as the Spanish term it, is the inclusion in the final part of the book of a number of pages in English, to help further integrate the International community with the Spanish, primarily for general information but also as a call to action to invite more residents to become involved, especially with the new Semana Santa Museum on Avda. De la Habaneras due to open in the near future.

The commission have asked that anyone interested in having their best souvenir photos of the procession included in the book, are invited to do so by handing in an envelope in with the subject “Easter Book 2012”, at the Museum of the Holy Week or by sending an email to jmctorreprensa@gmail.com .

The Commission shall be coordinated by Fernando Guardiola, head of Press and Publication of the JMC and part of it: Alfonso Pascual, Pedro M. Grimao, Carlos Vera, Oscar Pina Escribano, Ramon Ros and Marisol Cos, also having the advice of respected professionals in the cultural and artistic heritage of our city.

As a non profit organisation, the most important factor is that this beautiful and collectible magazine, which doubles as a Coffee Table Book, can pay for itself and so International businesses are being asked to contribute to advertising or sponsoring the book.
