THE employment workshop for the ‘Tourist Development of Carboneras’ carried out this summer has been reported as a great success.
The town hall, which promoted the workshop financed by the Ministry of Work and Immigration, the Andalucian Employment Service and the European Social Fund, has reported that it has allowed for important progress to be made in the promoting the town as a tourist destination.
Twelve people between 20 and 45 years old have taken part and helped the local tourism council by proposing a number of initiatives including informative pamphlets about local beaches, monuments and routes. These have been presented at official acts and are now distributed locally.
They have also been in charge of providing information for visitors at the local tourist office. The pupils have made a 300-page tourism resources inventory which includes flora, fauna, art, history and architecture.
A database with all the existing hiking routes in Almeria province and a list of the typical dishes served in all participating bars and restaurants was also created.
