Javea council reduce IBI Tax

THE Socialist government of Javea have responded to the financial hardships facing the average tax paying citizen of the borough by approving a reduction in Council Tax.

Over 24,500 property owners will have their rates reduced from the current 0.657% to 0.617% for the fiscal year.

According to Councillor for Finance, Oscar Anton, this is the greatest reduction in the rate authorised by the Javea Town Council since the 2005 valuation came into effect.

In addition to this Council Christmas present, new payment facilities will be implemented next year, thanks to a new computer software package that will allow taxpayers to tailor-fit the payment of their municipal rates to their advantage.

Councillor Anton pointed out that in addition to the 2.5% discount already applied to those who opt to pay their rates through direct debit, there will be additional discounts that have yet to be calculated, which will reward early payers and at the same time, assist government with cash flow problems to create greater efficiency through inveatment.

Anton said that although a great step forward, the reduction in tax rates was below their previous target, but added it would have been greater if they did not have to meet inescapable commitments inherited from the previous government such as interest on the purchase of the car parks.

Javea Mayor Jose Chulvi added his commitment to Anton’s remarks by guaranteeing that the Town Hall has set the highest rebate possible without risking any reduction in the current level of public services.
