Briton killed in Mojacar explosion

A man, 40, died in Mojacar after an explosion in the garage of the house where he was living.

According to a Spanish Press report the man’s initials were J.A.M and was British.

His parents, both in their sixties, were taken to La Inmaculada Hospital in Huercal Overa to be treated for smoke inhalation. A third person was given First Aid at the scene.

The emergency services were alerted by neighbours who reported a fire in the house which they said had followed a loud explosion in Calle Capellania.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known and is under investigation.
