THE Mayor of Velez-Malaga, Francisco Delgado, accuses the Junta de Andalucia of lying to tenants of council houses by forcing them to pay property tax.
He explained that the Andalucian Public Terrain Company is sending letters to local residents telling them that they have to make part payments for the 2010 property tax when paying the rent and claiming that the town hall has received the money for this service.
However, he claims that the Junta has not paid the property tax on any of the council houses it has in Velez Malaga, and has told local residents to take no notice of the letter and only pay the rent.
He pointed out that the Junta owes the town hall around €2.3 million for property tax since 2007.
