Dozens of exotic animals shot by police

Zanesville, Ohio (US) – “I’ve just seen a lion in my front garden. Now there is a big brown bear scratching at the back door.”

That’s the phone call central Ohio police received. “I thought the women had been drinking” said Sheriff Matt Lutz.

More than 50 exotic animals kept by 62-year-old Terry Thompson on his 73 acre sprawling farm in pens and cages had been let loose. These included: 18 Bengal tigers, leopards, lions, bears, among others.

Thompson had just been released after spending a year in jail on weapons charges and had recently broken up with his wife.

He was found dead after police armed with assault rifles shot most of the dangerous animals dead.

It is believed that Thompson may have killed himself after letting all the animals free.

Sheriff Matt Lutz continued, “some people are nuts. They came out of their homes after we had warned them all to stay in doors.

“One woman told me that she loves tigers and wants to stroke one. I told her lady, it will be the last thing that you’ll do.”

Thimphu (Bhutan) – When King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, 31, married his beautiful commoner wife Jetsun Pema, it was called the ‘other wedding of the year’.

The small country of 700,000 people celebrated as the theme of the wedding was “of the people”.

The bride is the daughter of an airline pilot, maybe that’s why he named her JETsun. Happy flying to both of them.

Teheran (Iran)  – Some actors deserved to be chastised for bad performances, but a year in prison and 90 lashes is a bit over the top. This sentence was given to 38-year-old Iranian actress Marzieh Vafamehr after her starring role in an Australian film called ‘Teheran for Sale’. Most of the film was filmed in Iran, where Marzieh was born. In the Film Marzieh appears not wearing a hijab with her head shaved.

She was arrested in Teheran and imprisoned. Her family are appealing against the sentence. “The film has not been approved for screening in Iran. It is being shown illegally,” said a government spokesman.

Batala (Punjab) – Beware of girls carrying jars! Twenty year old Dalbir Kaur got very angry when she was found out her lover was getting married the following week to another girl.

She invited the lover, named Jagdish Kumar, 24, to come to her home, for the usual afternoon coupling session. Naked she reached for a jar as Jagdish disrobed, and threw the contents over his private parts. The jar contained acid. Jagdish was taken to hospital in Amritsar, with serious injuries.

A Jerry Lee Lewis song comes to mind, Great Balls of Fire!
