Altea –Calpe railway works on track

THE first of the three proposed viaducts in the railways improvement works that are taking place on the stretch of line between Altea and Calpe, has now been completed.

As previously reported in EWN, the works were deemed necessary for safety reasons following a structural engineering survey showing instability and movement in certain embankments along the Mascarat portion of the line.

As users to the line will know, the works have been ongoing since August and it is hoped they will be completed within six months.

The disruption to passengers is in the form of transferring to coaches to shuttle between stations during the essential works, and the Valencia Railway Company, FGV, have stated that they hope to keep that disruption to a minimum, with an anticipated 14 weeks of shuttle bus use within the works period.
