TORROX Town Hall has suggested that it will pay for transport to university for local youths depending on their results.
Pupils at university will receive €300 and those in training courses €200, as long as they are registered residents of the town and not obtaining any other grants, plus they must have passed 60 per cent of the subjects in which they enrolled the previous year, and be enrolled in at least 80 per cent of the obligatory subjects for the current year.
The Youth Councillor, Mari Ramirez, said the idea was to help families, as well as encouraging local youths to study to make sure they could continue to live in the town while studying.
If the proposal is approved, the period to request the grants will be between November 15 and December 15, although in the future it will be in September.
