MALAGA’S prostitutes are considering hiring security guards before they move to an area designated to them by the city council, a spokeswoman for this collective said.
They the location, behind the car scrapyards on the Guadalhorce Industrial Estate, to be ‘unsafe’.
A members of non-profit organization Medicos del Mundo, who work with the prostitutes, said: “we are worried about the girls’ health. We went to see the area last week and it’s really a cul-de-sac, with only one secluded entrance”.
The city hall intended to give them a place away from the city where they would not annoy residents or businesses and where they could work without being fined.
But the prostitutes complain that in the suggested location they will be more exposed to robberies and attacks, and that although the road has been repaired and lit, there are no bins.
For the time being, they refuse to move until the area has been completed equipped for them. “All we want is to work with dignity” said another spokeswoman.
