THE Mayor of Macharaviaya, Antonio Campos, received the key of the city of Pensacola, Florida, at a ceremony held to make the two locations ‘sisters’.
He was received by the mayor of Pensacola, Ashton Hayward, and laid a wreath of flowers before the statue of Bernardo de Galvez, a military leader born in the town, who beat the British in the Battle of Pensacola in 1781.
The aim is to strengthen cultural and institutional ties between the two cities.
