Man stabbed in Pego by neighbour

A PEGO man was seriously injured after being stabbed twice by a neighbour.

The presumed aggressor, a 49-year-old Spaniard with drug problems, rang several entry-phones in the apartment block opposite his home on October 13, claiming to be a postman.

He was allowed in just before 11am by his unsuspecting victim whom he stabbed in the stomach as he waited at his open apartment door. Without uttering a word the intruder entered the apartment, probably in order to steal, investigators believe. Before leaving he stabbed the man again, perforating a lung.

The Guardia Civil surrounded the neighbourhood and although the suspect tried to evade arrest, took him into custody at 10pm that same night as he returned home.
