Plans for a gay retirement complex in Totalan

THE first retirement complex for homosexuals, Gaylife, was presented to the public recently in Totalan.
The president of the Expogays Gay Trade fair, which started yesterday (Thursday) in Torremolinos, Javier Checa, presented the home which will have 67 apartments of 42m2 each, with living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and terrace, in El Candado urbanization area.
They will be promoted at the trade fair which is open until Sunday, and will also include a medical centre, rehab centre, dining room, laundry facilities, sauna, swimming pool and disco, 100 parking spaces and almost 35,000m2 of private gardens.
“It will be a place to come and die of pleasure, not to die in sadness” Checa said.
He also explained that the project would mainly be promoted to the British and German markets as a place for “peace and relaxation” for retirees. “No-one will discriminate anyone at this home” he said, “it will not be a ghetto but an open place with homes where elderly gay people can feel relaxed”.
One gay couple, who currently live in Torremolinos and have been together for eight years, has already expressed their interest in the complex. “When you get older, having no children, you feel more alone” they said. “We want a place where people won’t judge us for kissing or holding hands”.
