A COUPLE who are building contractors in the Raiguer area were sentenced to two-years in prison each.
They confessed to and were convicted of forging Bunyola Mayor Jaume Isern’s signature and that of a representative of another company on promissory notes for a non-existent job so they could defraud €240,862 from a bank in 2007 and 2008.
They must also pay a fine of €3 a day for nine months and €240,862 compensation to the bank they defrauded. They prosecution originally asked for a 12-year prison sentence.
