THE second ‘Race of Champions’ Downhill competition took place in Mijas.

One hundred participants took part in the event which consisted of 30 skateboard riders, 20 roller skaters, 10 Gravitybikes (bikes without brakes), 20 soapboxes and 20 ‘skeleton’ riders.

People from all over Spain and Europe took part in the event with 20 participants from Malaga. Once they arrived at the bottom the hill vehicles were on hand to tow them back to the top.

Event organiser, Jose Francisco Porras, said “Between Friday and Saturday we did eleven descents and in the two days of the competition the worst injury we had was a sprained ankle”.

In the upcoming year events of this kind will take place in the south of Spain with one in the Fuengirola-Mijas area and among others Almeria and the investigation into Huelva and Cadiz areas.
