A HELICOPTER which was heading to Alhama de Almeria crashed in Granada, killing the three occupants.
The Infoca (Junta de Andalucia Firefighting Department) helicopter, a Bell 412, had taken off from Palma del Rio in Cordoba, and crashed in an area known as La Fuente de la Gitana in La Peza, Granada as it was heading to Alhama de Almeria to replace another craft.
A small fire broke out which was controlled quickly by three helicopters and a plane. Guardia Civil are investigating the cause of the crash.
The remains of the three occupants were discovered near the crash site. One of them was not a member of the Infoca Service.
This was the second helicopter to crash in less than 24 hours in Andalucia. The other one crashed in the middle of a narrow street in El Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz, injuring the three occupants.
