THE lawyers of Jose Aleman, the former administrator of El Ejido Town Hall charged in the Poniente corruption case, have refused to continue defending him.
For almost two years, the lawyers from Lealtadis have been defending Aleman against charges of money laundering, embezzlement, document forgery, bribery and influence peddling.
Now they have refused to defend him and he will have to find a new team. If he fails to do so, he will be assigned a state-appointed lawyer.
This is not the first time that Aleman, who is considered to be the mastermind behind the corruption case, has had to change his lawyers, as he was first defended by Francisco Torres, who now defends former mayor Juan Enciso, who was also arrested in the case and has spent time in prison.
