FOR the seventh month running, unemployment has fallen in Almuñecar to 2,751. In August, ten more people found employment compared to July, according to data from the Andalucian Employment Service.
This is mainly due to positive tourism figures, especially in the hotel industry, as well as the local festivities being held this month. Almuñecar is one of the few towns in Spain where the number of unemployed people fell, and follows a tendency which began in January this year, when after reaching 3,430 people out of work, figures began to fall.
However, there are 40 more people unemployed than there were last August. Unemployment also fell in Motril for the second consecutive month, to a total of 7,107 people.
