THE owner of a car parked on Calle Sant Damas in Son Gotleu found the body of a man in the boot of his car. He had parked the car there on Saturday, but had not used it until Monday morning to go to work.
There was a foul smell coming from the back of the car. When he discovered the body he alerted the police. The victim was a 37-year-old man known to the police due to his ‘extensive criminal record’ for theft.
Investigators believe that the man had been trying to steal items from inside the car and that he had injected heroin while there, as initial evidence points to a drug overdose as the cause of death.
No external signs of violence were found, but an autopsy is being carried out for clarification.
