Man sends explosive device to former employers

POLICE in Valencia arrested a 28-year-old man who sent an explosive device to his former employers.

The device had been placed outside their home in the district of Russafa. Apparently someone had called the house at least three times, warning the family that they would be harmed if they didn’t hand over €1,000.

Police identified the suspect, who was a former employee who was dismissed in August last year after failing to come in for work for a month with no explanation.

He sued his employers at the time for unfair dismissal but the sentence came down against him.

He has advanced computer and electronics skills and the knowledge to make explosive devices. The device in question could have caused severe damage.

He was charged with extortion, owning explosives and attempted murder.
