Spanish couple arrested at Denia Port

A SPANISH couple was arrested at Denia port, whilst trying to board the ferry to Palma de Mallorca, when drugs was discovered in their vehicle.

Hidden in the car’s glove compartment, were 1.1 kilos of cocaine and more than 22 vacuum sealed packets of hashish, weighing 21 kilos, according to the Guardia Civil.

The detainees, age 18 and 27, had smeared the immediate area around the drugs with a menthol substance in a vain attempt to mask the smell.

The drugs had been secreted within a metal box and were so embedded, that the car’s air conditioning tubing had to be cut out, to obtain access to the hidden stash.

Despite their attempts to conceal the drugs, the trained sniffer dog had no problem in detecting the packages.
