Schools open from 7.30am next term

IN a bid to make life easier for working parents, 140 state schools throughout Almeria Province will open from 7.30am next term. This is four more than last term, and will benefit more than 6,000 children in the province.

This is part of the services included in the School Opening Plan which aims to facilitate family life with work, and looks after children until school starts.

This plan also includes school lunches until 4pm at 138 schools, and extracurricular activities at 181. All these schools will be open for almost 12 hours every day of the week so that families can choose the combinations which best meet their needs.

In Almeria, 17,500 children use the school dining rooms, according to the Education Delegation.

It is the service in highest demand and the one which families claim best help them to work and spend time with their children. They also contribute to improving children’s eating habits and preventing health problems such as obesity. The dining rooms are controlled by monitors or by the teachers.
