Mayor did not ‘intend’ to link ETA to 15-M

ELCHE Mayor Mercedes Alonso apologized to 15-M movement members for the ‘misunderstanding’ at last week’s plenary session where they believed she had implied there was a link between them and terrorist group ETA.

She explained that she had been forced to use escort guards due to the “presence of members of group ETA, who could have hidden themselves amongst the peaceful demonstrators”.

“I have a profound respect for the principles surrounding this movement,” she said.
