THREE women have been arrested in Alicante in just two days for allegedly faking crimes.
Two of them were apparently economically motivated and the third was an act of vengeance on a former flatmate who had denounced her for theft for which she had previously been arrested. After she had been released the 38-year-old woman went to the police station and accused him of sexually assaulting her when she went home to collect her belongings.
Another detainee was a 71-year-old woman who faked a burglary in which €1,500 was allegedly stolen in order to claim compensation from her insurance company. Then a 65-year old woman reported that tenants had caused damage to a house they had rented and had stolen items from that property.
Police believe that the real reason for her denouncing them was that she did not wish to repay the €3,000 deposit to the tenants.
