A SHIP which was retained in Garrucha Port for allegedly contaminating the sea has been released on a deposit of €340,000.
The contamination was detected on May 8 when the ship, the Star Cosmo, was heading from Brazil to Germany, by a Sea Rescue Plane. The contamination was 23 miles off Cabo Touriñan.
The ship, sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands, got into Garrucha Port earlier this month and was immobilized. After the payment of the deposit it was released although proceedings have been initiated.
