REVELLERS on Benidorm’s Playa Levante beach were treated to a surreal spectacle when a car ended up on the sand.
The incident occurred at around 5 a.m., just as the clubs were emptying out, when an out of control car travelled for 400 metres on the pedestrian walkway, causing people to leap for safety, before it plunged off the paseo and onto the beach below.
Three people were slightly injured when hit by the car, which was a rental vehicle driven by a British national. Police said he tried to resist arrest, and was found to be drunk. The man has appeared before the court and has been released pending a hearing date.
