THE body of a woman was found at her Palma home a week after she died. It had been a week since anybody had seen her and a neigbour raised the alarm after noticing a strong smell coming from the apartment on Calle General Riera 32.
Fire-fighters forced the door open and found her decomposing body, but no external signs of violence, although an autopsy is being conducted to clarify the exact cause of death. She had diabetes and suffered from a disorder characterized by extreme self-neglect, domestic squalor, social withdrawal, apathy, compulsive hoarding of rubbish, and lack of shame.
