Killer falls to his death while fleeing

THE alleged killer of a 22-year-old Jaen woman was “extremely drunk” when he entered her apartment and raped her.

The man, who died after he slipped and fell while attempting to escape, had also consumed cocaine and hashish when he entered the apartment intending to steal items from inside, according to the National Police. It is not known why he entered that particular apartment, but €50 were found on his person.

He did not know the victim, and had an extensive criminal record. He had apparently just received unemployment benefits amounting to €400 which he had claimed he intended to spend “partying all day”.

He arrived home drunk in the early hours of the morning and just half an hour later, when to a hamburger restaurant. He then went to a pub and had two drinks but was refused a third because the waiter wasn’t sure he would be able to pay. Five minutes later, at around 5am, he entered the apartment where they victim had gone to bed after having a shower and phoning her mother.

He sexually abused her then stabbed her several times. A neighbour called the police alerting of strange noises in the house. When they arrived, the man attempted to escape through the window but let go of the rail he was holding and fell from the fourth floor.
