British teens stabbed in Spain

TWO British teens have been stabbed within days of each other; one in Lloret del Mar, a resort town north of Barcelona, and in Puerto Banus.

Andrew M, aged 15, was stabbed around 4am in the recreational area of Lloret del Mar and died from the stab wound to his chest at hospital in the nearby town of Blanes.

“Investigations are underway, but we are not at liberty to say if there have been any arrests because of a judge’s gag order,” said a police spokesperson. “Something like this is inevitable in a municipality that receives a million visitors each year,” said newly elected Mayor Roma Condina.

“The only way to avoid something like this would be to put police on every corner, but this is not feasible,” said the Chief of Catalan’s Autonomous Police in Girona.

More than 300 people including friends and relatives of the victim joined the mayor in a minute of silence.

Meanwhile, two days earlier, Roddy Azar, 17, was stabbed in the groin in Puerto Banus after standing up to a gang that allegedly insulted his girlfriend and a female friend. The teen was taken to hospital after friends realized he was bleeding after he fell to the ground as the attackers left, a source revealed.

His life is not thought to be in danger. Spanish police have been reviewing CCTV footage to identify the attackers and are reportedly looking for five ‘Arabic-looking’ youths.
