Luis Maria Pizana Boj, Torrevieja’s new councillor for culture, presented the Summer Cultural Program for 2011. In total there are 132 activities covering the months of July, August and September, with a budget of only €51,000.
Boj said:“The program contains Music concerts, exhibitions, workshops, courses, jazz, film screenings, theatre, dance, festival of contemporary art and
An international festival of bands, which are just are some of the items offered by this new cultural program aimed at all citizens and visitors.”
Some of the highlights include the celebration of the 57th Habanera and Polyphony International Competition from 23 to 30 July in the historic site of the Eras de la Sal. There is also an International Bands Music Festival and The Festival of Contemporary Art FACTOR 11, which covers different activities of painting, sculpture, music, theatre,
Performance, photography and graffiti in different parts of the city, including the Paseo Marítimo Juan Aparicio, Exhibition Hall Vista Alegre, Eras de la Sal and in specially set aside areas around the city, from 16 to 21 August.
Finally, Luisma Pizana Boj indicated that the “Department of Culture of the Municipality of Torrevieja faces an exciting summer which will offer both torrevejenses and tourists visiting the city a multitude of activities that are very attractive and interesting, which are sure to be widely accepted by the public.”
The cultural program can be picked up at the Office of Tourism, Town Hall, Theatres and Town Hall premises.
