POLICE in Jaen recovered a Roman bust stolen from an archaeological site in Porcuna several years ago.
The bust, which depicts an emperor or Roman god, was found in a well on a property close to Jaen capital, where it is believed the thieves threw it when Guardia Civil were investigating the robbery.
A Special Ops team with police divers, as well as Jaen firemen, entered the deep well which contains water unfit for human or animal consumption, and extracted the sculpture from within hundreds of kilos of mud.
