MALAGA Provincial Government plans to promote an agreement with Alfarnate to increase the production of cherries and introduce blueberry, raspberry and persimmon crops. The aim is to stimulate economic development in the town and the Axarquia area.
The president of the Provincial Government, Elias Bendodo, met with the mayor, Jose Maria Ruiz, to study the possibilities for improving the sector.
He promised to collaborate to help promote cherry growing as well as industries for jams and other products, as well as promoting other fruits which are currently only grown in certain areas of Huelva but which are in great demand.
This is hoped to open new economic and social possibilities for the area, both by growing the fruits and by creating industries to market them.
