Torrox mayor demands National Police station

THE Mayor of Torrox, Francisco Muñoz, has demanded that a National Police station be created for the Eastern Axarquia area.

Muñoz explained to the Government Sub-Delegate in Malaga, Hilario Lopez Luna, that although Nerja and Torrox do not have enough inhabitants to have their own National Police station, the combined population of the two means that more police are needed.

Lopez Luna recently took part in a Local Safety Meeting, which was also attended by the top ranking Guardia Civil and Local Police members. Both promised to work together to keep crime rates low in the town of Torrox, which has one of the lowest rates on the coast.

The mayor said that the combined work of the two forces will mean there are more police keeping the streets safe this summer.
