Earthquake in Alicante village.

AN earthquake that registered 3.8 on the Richter scale occurred with its epicenter in Algueña, inland from Alicante.

It was recorded at a depth of 11km and occurred at 12.54am on Monday, according to the National Geographic Institute. The tremors were felt by residents in towns of Murcia and Alicante Provinces.

A total of 95 calls were made to 112 emergency services in relation to the tremors from towns including Aspe, Callosa del Segura, Crevillente, Elche, Hondon de los Frailes Monforte del Cid, Monovar, Novelda and Pinoso.

There were no reported injuries or damage caused, according to the Guardia Civil and emergency services. About an hour later another earthquake was recorded in Abanilla in Murcia. It was 1.6 on the Richter scale. In June, there were two earthquakes recorded in Santa Pola with an intensity of 1.9 and 1.4.
