Punta Prima Beach bags awards

ORIHUELA Costa has received 14 awards for the quality of its beaches this year.

Punta Prima Beach was awarded a record three flags; the European Blue Flag, the ‘Q’ quality flag and for the first times the Eco Playas award. A Blue Flag award was given for the first time to La Zenia Beach ‘Cala Bosque’ and re-awarded to Flamenca, Cala Capitan, La Caleta, La Glea, and Barranco Rubio Beaches as well as Cabo Roig Port.

‘Q’ quality awards were made to Flamenca, Cala Capital, La Glea and Mil Palmeras Beaches.

In his first act as Councillor for the Coast, Bob Houliston accompanied by fellow councillors Martine Scheurer and Ana Mas participated in an award flag raising ceremony on Punta Prima Beach. “These awards were given not just for cleanliness of the beaches and water, but for a combination of services including security, life-saving and medical first aid,” said Councillor Houliston.

“Quality beaches in Orihuela Costa are of the utmost importance for residents, tourists and holidaymakers, for local businesses and for the economy of Orihuela,” he stressed. “I will make every effort to maintain and improve the quality of Orihuela Costa beaches.”
