THE family of a victim of terrorism has complained that they were not invited to an event to pay homage to the victims.
Teresa Esquivias, whose husband Jesus is the cousin of Cuevas del Almanzora Mayor, Jesus Caicedo, was injured in an Al Qaeda attack in Iraq in April 2010. Aged 61, she worked at the Spanish Embassy.
Her husband claims that she died from her injuries because she was not given proper care, and the current Spanish Ambassador in the Vatican, Maria Jesus Figa Lopez Palop, who was at the time the Foreign Office under-Secretary, did not allow for a plane to bring her back to Spain to take off.
He says her relatives do not belong to any victims’ association, but that she was declared a victim of terrorism by the government. Therefore, they were upset that they were not invited to an event attended by Prime Minister Zapatero on June 27.
