A FAMILY living illegally in a house in Rodeo de Rojales were evicted by Guardia Civil and Local Police.
In September 2010, Jose Luis Pons and his partner bought the property in question from a financial institution that had acquired it after the then owners defaulted on a loan. When the new owners arrived at the house, the daughter of the former owner had built a partition to separate the back of the house, using the back door to access that part of the home.
Pons claimed he offered the “squatters” to stay rent free for a while until they found somewhere else to live, but that she responded with threats. The new owners reformed the house and lived there; all the time allegedly received “continuous threats” from the previous owners.
Both parties had filed denuncia, but in the end, the previous owners residing in the back part of the property were evicted. The daughter of the former owner has been barred by a court order from coming within 500 meters from the couple she threatened.
