MACAEL Urban Planning Department has stopped work being carried out at the Edificio San Marcos, due to “serious irregularities” committed by the previous mayor. The Urban Planning Councillor, Guillermo Casquet, met at the site with the manager of the construction company carrying out the work, and later with the architect in charge.
Casquet claims that the former mayor, PSOE’s Juan Pastor, “used the money from the guarantee the promoter put down for ‘other expenses’ when the Law specifies it can only be used for building work”.
Meanwhile, the construction company claims that Pastor was “always giving excuses for not paying” but that they would never have imagined he had spent it on something else. As the town hall does not have the money to pay, Casquet decided it would be better to stop the work until it has been cleared up who is responsible.
He claims that Juan Pastor was paid a guarantee of almost €90,000, but that he only paid €21,000.
