All-terrain walking chair

A PROTOTYPE of an all-terrain ‘walking chair’ that can step over obstacles has been created by a design student from Derby University. Martin Harris hopes, 21, that one day his invention will help the disabled to get around more easily.

It is made up of six metal legs on each side of wheels, which means it can travel on most surfaces, including off road and on sand, walk up slopes and step over obstacles. The spider like legs can go around 4mph at full speed.
