Summer time fun around Torrevieja

SUMMER IS just around the corner and with the longer, brighter and hotter nights already in evidence, it’s time to enjoy evenings in Torrevieja to the fullest while there is a not to be missed expo this weekend too. With the elections out of the way, it’s back to business as usual as we enter June, and believe it or not, 2011 is almost half over already!

This weekend offers a couple of fun events including Noche del Coche, the Sunday’s Drivers Club and This is Spain Exhibition.

The next This Is Spain Exhibition takes place from 27 to 29 May at the popular Hotel La Zenia, a little south of Torrevieja, between the hours of 10am and 6pm.

The show features a large number of exhibitors who will be showing an extensive range of products and services.

These will include health products such as exercise regimes, foods, health and allergy checks. For the ladies there will be cosmetics and beauty aids, accessories and clothing.

For the home there will be furniture, security systems and aids, television providers, pools, spas and solar heating.

Of general interest there will be financial services, insurance, car rental and the very important, food and drink.

The end of each month also features a flurry of activity on the classic and specialist car scene. On Friday evening, from 8pm to 10pm, owners of classic, tuning, specialist, performance, American muscle, European Exotics and interesting cars and bikes are invited to come along to the Marina Salinas to display their pride and joy.

It’s an informal gathering, admission is free for both display cars and visitors, although spectators bringing their own car into the parking area will have to pay to park.

The afternoon version of Noche Del Coche, the Sunday Drivers Club has their informal meeting on, Sunday, from 11am to 1pm at Di Vinci’s Bistro, San Luis, just off the main Crevillent dual carriageway.

And a date for your diary must be Richard Street and his Temptations in concert on Friday 10 June in the Municipal Theatre, Torrevieja, supported By Celena Deans Three times Grammy award winner Richard Street and the guys were due to appear in concert on the Costa Blanca on Friday 3 December 2010 but weather conditions prevented them from doing so.

But he’s back and the larger venue means that a few tickets arestill available to those who were unable to attend the original concert due to restricted numbers. Tickets www.servicam.com . Richard has performed hundreds of shows with The Temptations over the years as a member of the group, visited dozens of countries worldwide, and along with other members past and present, was there when the group was inducted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall Of Fame in 1989.  In his upcoming book, Ball Of Confusion, Richard chronicles his years with the group. The show includes the legendary music of The Temptations along with other classic hit songs that document the golden years of the Motown sound. The Way It Used To Be. Another musical legend in concert in Torrevieja.
