THERE are no advertisements or signs to let the public know that the municipal bus service between El Altet airport and Alicante City and Elche began operating this week. Only the sign on the front windshield of the bus run by the Costa Azul Company lets potential passengers know about the ‘Quick Torrevjieja’ service.
It came in to being following numerous requests from citizens, but so far the average number of passengers on each trip has been between four and five, bus drivers revealed.
Up until now, the only way to get to and from El Altet airport was via private car, taxis, or changing public transport links that could take more than two hours.
With ‘Quick Torrevieja’ it only takes around 50 minutes, with buses traveling the route every two hours and the cost for each trip is €6.79.
