Inmate charged for bogus sex claims against guard

A ROMANIAN inmate at El Acebuche prison (Almeria) has been charged with falsely reporting that he was sexually abused by a prison guard in a classroom. An Almeria judge took the unusual decision of visiting the prison to obtain a statement from the inmate and witnesses.

He was able to confirm that there was no evidence of the abuse having taken place, especially at the time the inmate had claimed, and that there were details in the complaint which were impossible.

The judge decided to close the case.

It is not the first time that this inmate has complained of prison staff.

The ACAIP union has brought charges against him for the false report which could increase his sentence between six months and two years if he is found guilty.
