Restaurant owner warns fellow businessmen to be on their guard

JACK’S American Restaurant on Burriana Beach, Nerja, was recently targeted by thieves, who took everything they found, including a television set. The robbery was carried out in the early hours of the morning, and the owner, Graham Travers, informs us that eight restaurants in the area have been broken into over the past few weeks in the early hours, most of them run by British residents.

The Guardia Civil in Nerja also confirmed that several robberies had occurred in the area, however, they said it was “nothing too serious” and that owners shouldn’t worry “as long as they were insured”.

Despite the fact that Jack’s had a security system installed, the Mr Travers, who has been here for 17 years, reports that he is finding difficulty with the major company which installed the high-tech equipment for him, as they say that although the alarm worked, nothing was caught on their cameras, and therefore, the insurance won’t pay out.

Mr Travers says he not only feels conned and disappointed, but also worried, as he has recommended the same company to other premises in the area.
