TERRA NATURA in Benidorm was last week proud to show off two new arrivals last week in the form of two new baby Chital. The Latin name is Axis axis, and they look like bambi. The two females gave birth just two days apart, since this species synchronizes their deliveries to give birth at the same time for the herd to collectively better address the care of newborns.
The park now has 22 Chital in total, and has pulled through remarkably well since the mountainside fires of January 2009 when many animals had to be evacuated for fear of the park being overwhelmed.
