Costa towns unite against illegal taxis

BENALMADENA, Fuengirola and Torremolinos have agreed to work together to ‘eradicate’ unlicensed taxis working in the towns. A committee has been informed which includes the Chiefs of Local Police of Benalmadena and Torremolinos, members of the respective councils and representatives from the taxi sector of each town.

The idea is for these coastal municipalities to “share information on vehicles that offer public transport services without qualifications or permission,” explained Benalmadena’s Transport Councillor Rafael Obrero.

“Sharing the work in a coordinated manner is a significant step in this initiative because these coastal areas, close to hotels and resorts, have the greatest concentration of vehicles without licenses or insurance and diminishing the quality of the taxi service,” he added.
