Man wanted in Holland and Germany arrested in San Miguel de Salinas

THE National Police have arrested a Dutch citizen in San Miguel de Salinas. He had two outstanding European Arrest Warrants – one from his home country and the other from Germany – for alleged drug trafficking, counterfeiting documents and assaulting a police officer.

January 2010 at a Dutch police checkpoint, the detainee was identified with a fake passport and driver’s license. He fled to avoid arrest, seriously injuring an officer in the process, according to Dutch police. Under Dutch law he could face eight years imprisonment.

He has been wanted by German authorities since 2009 for his alleged drug trafficking crimes, for which he faces 15 years in jail.

Following investigations Alicante Police discovered he was living in the province and arrested him while he was driving his car with his wife and daughter.

At the time of arrest, the fugitive produced officers a false Canadian passport, police sources say.
