A MAN who was caught in the act of breaking into a car in Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, fled the scene. He drove in such a reckless manner that the Guardia Civil had to abort the chase to avoid causing an accident that could harm an innocent third party. Following a spate of robberies from inside cars in Sant Antoni in the last three months, Guardia Civil officers set up surveillance in the affected areas.
It is believed that this person – who was described as a 47-year old Algerian national- has also operated in various locations including supermarkets and parking lots of beaches and tourist areas since at least 2009.
