A 62-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in Granada after confessing to the Local Police that he had killed his wife. The detainee, who is a retired National Police officer, claimed to have hit his wife, also 62, with a hammer and stabbed her to death in their home, where she was found later.
He was covered in blood when he confessed the crime to a couple of policemen on patrol.
The couple had two sons, one of them a Guardia Civil, and was living together although they had separated and had previously been living apart.
Fifteen women have died so far this year at the hands of their partners or former partners.
